Abstract
Psychologys crises in replicability and generalisability reflect a lack of confidence in research findings. Just improving the same practices cannot tackle the root causes. This review presents diverse philosophies of science and pinpoints four major areas of development. Psychology must advance its philosophy of science and elaborate coherent paradigms. Psychologists must heed the epistemic necessity to distinguish between study phenomena and means used for their exploration. Rethinking psychology requires open and honest debates that prioritise scientific integrity over expediency.
